LiFePO4 Batteries – Why This Superior Battery Technology Is Perfect for Campers and Motorhomes

What Makes LiFePO4 Batteries So Much Better?

In a nutshell, LiFePO4 batteries are more powerful and durable than other battery technologies, while also being incredibly safe. This means, among other things:

They have a significantly higher energy density, allowing them to store more energy in a much smaller and lighter format. Given the limited space and payload capacity in a camper, this advantage already comes into play when it comes to installation.

Another major benefit of LiFePO4 batteries is their deep discharge capability. While lead-acid batteries can often only be discharged up to 50% before damage occurs, LiFePO4 batteries can be almost fully discharged without shortening their lifespan. This means you’ll have even more usable energy available.

Additionally, they have a longer lifespan than conventional batteries, with a significantly higher number of charge cycles.

LiFePO4 batteries are also extremely safe. They are less prone to overheating, and there is no risk of explosion, making them a particularly safe choice for motorhome use. With their built-in Battery Management System (BMS), the battery is protected from overcharging, overheating, and deep discharge, ensuring worry-free operation.

For added safety, we provide double protection in case of overload and short circuits. Normally, the battery is shut off by the integrated software. However, we don’t rely on software alone. With tigerexped LiFePO4 batteries, the battery is also hardware-protected from shutoff.

We’ve also added other benefits to compensate for the drawbacks of LiFePO4 technology. Our tigerexped battery can be charged even in freezing temperatures, thanks to its built-in self-heating feature, which typically would shut down the charging capability of LiFePO4 batteries. Remarkably, the battery is still much smaller and lighter than standard LiFePO4 batteries.
